Mohammed Munawar: I was motivated to pursue a career in IT because I have always been passionate about technology and its ability to solve business challenges. Early in my career, I was fascinated by how networks, servers, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems work together to support organizational growth.

Over the years, this interest evolved into a commitment to building secure, scalable, and reliable IT infrastructures that enable business success. What continues to motivate me today is the opportunity to lead digital transformation initiatives, enhance cybersecurity, improve operational efficiency, and leverage emerging technologies such as AI and cloud computing to create measurable business value.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Mohammed Munawar: A typical day involves overseeing IT infrastructure operations, ensuring cybersecurity and system availability, managing IT projects, supporting business units, coordinating with vendors, and leading the IT team.

I also focus on strategic initiatives such as digital transformation, cloud services, and improving overall IT performance to support business objectives.

How is your industry evolving, and what trends do you foresee?

Mohammed Munawar: The IT industry is evolving rapidly with the adoption of AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity advancements, and automation. Organizations are increasingly focusing on digital transformation, data-driven decision-making, and hybrid work environments.

Looking ahead, I foresee greater use of AI-powered operations, Zero Trust security frameworks, cloud-native infrastructure, and increased investment in cybersecurity resilience to address emerging threats and business demands.

What challenges have you overcome, and how?

Mohammed Munawar: Throughout my career, I have overcome challenges such as cybersecurity threats, infrastructure modernization, system downtime risks, and managing complex multi-site IT environments.

I addressed these by implementing proactive security measures, strengthening disaster recovery and business continuity plans, adopting new technologies, and fostering strong collaboration between IT teams, management, and business stakeholders. These experiences have enhanced my problem-solving, leadership, and strategic planning capabilities.

Can you share any pivotal career moments?

Mohammed Munawar: A pivotal moment in my career was being entrusted to establish and lead a centralized IT function for a diversified investment group comprising healthcare, retail, agriculture, mobility, and corporate entities.

During this journey, I was promoted from IT Manager to Group IT Infrastructure Manager, recognizing my contributions to the organization's technology transformation.

I successfully led a large-scale digital transformation initiative across nine companies, standardizing IT operations, implementing ERP and healthcare systems, strengthening cybersecurity, and managing enterprise infrastructure for more than 800 users.

This experience transformed my role from managing technology to driving business strategy and organizational growth through technology.

How do you define your leadership style?

Mohammed Munawar: I practice a strategic and people-centric leadership style. I focus on building high-performing teams, driving innovation, and aligning IT strategy with business goals while maintaining strong governance, cybersecurity, and operational excellence.

Is your organization leveraging AI or other emerging technologies?

Mohammed Munawar: Yes, our Group is actively leveraging AI and other emerging technologies. We utilize AI-driven cybersecurity solutions such as CrowdStrike and Bitdefender MDR for advanced threat detection and response, cloud technologies through Microsoft 365 and Azure services, and business intelligence platforms like Power BI for data-driven decision-making.

We are also exploring AI opportunities in automation, IT operations, customer engagement, and business analytics to enhance efficiency, security, and overall business performance.

What are your long-term goals for your career or business?

Mohammed Munawar: My long-term vision is to evolve into a C-level technology leadership role, such as CIO or CTO, where I can shape enterprise-wide technology strategy and drive sustainable business growth through innovation.

I aim to lead large-scale digital transformation initiatives, leverage AI and emerging technologies, strengthen cybersecurity and governance frameworks, and build high-performing teams that position technology as a strategic business enabler rather than just a support function.

Ultimately, my goal is to create measurable business value, enhance operational excellence, and contribute to the organization's long-term success and competitiveness.
