Iran Expands Strikes to Saudi Oil Giant SAMREF Refinery, West Asia Conflict Intensifies

Riyadh/Tehran — The ongoing war in West Asia has taken a dangerous turn, with Iran widening its attacks beyond Qatar and the UAE to target Saudi Arabia's key oil infrastructure, including facilities linked to energy giant Aramco.

According to reports, Iran carried out aerial strikes—using drones and missiles—on major oil installations in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant escalation in the regional conflict. One of the prominent targets was the SAMREF refinery, a crucial facility tied to Saudi Arabia's oil production network.

The attacks come as part of Iran's retaliation following earlier strikes by Israel on its South Pars gas field, one of the world's largest. Tehran had warned that energy infrastructure across the Gulf would be targeted if such attacks continued.

Soon after, multiple Gulf nations—including Qatar, the UAEKuwait, and Saudi Arabia—reported missile and drone strikes hitting or threatening their critical oil and gas facilities.

Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure is among the most vital in the world, and any disruption raises concerns about global energy supplies. Alongside Saudi facilities, attacks have also impacted Qatar's Ras Laffan gas hub and energy sites in the UAE, forcing shutdowns and heightening fears of a wider energy crisis.

The escalation has already pushed oil prices higher, with markets reacting to fears of supply disruptions and instability in the Gulf—home to some of the world's largest oil reserves.

Experts warn that targeting major energy infrastructure could trigger long-term consequences for global markets and regional stability. With Iran signaling more strikes and Gulf nations on high alert, the conflict risks spiraling into a broader war affecting multiple countries.
